STAFF EVALUATION 0F CENPD-169-P On August 27, 1975, Combustion Engineering submitted topical report CENPD-169-P, "COLSS - Assessment of the Accuracy of PWR Operating Limits as Determined by the Core Operating Limit Supervisory System" for our review.
We have completed our review of CENPD-169-P and our evaluation appears as the Enclosure to this letter.
In summary, we conclude that.CENPD-169-P is an acceptable reference for the methodology used by the core operating limit supervisory system to determine power distributions from incore detectors.
In addition we conc'ude that the procedure described in CENPD-169-P for calculs :ing the overall uncertainty in the three dimensional peaking factor (Fg) is acceptable.
Should NRC criteria or regulations change such that our conclusions concerning CENPD-169-P are invalidated, you will be notified and given an opportunity to revise and resubmit your topical report, should you so desire.
It is requested that CENPD-169-P be resubmitted as an approved report and that this approval letter and evaluation be incorporated as part of the document.
When CENPD-169-P is referenced in a license appli-cation, the non-proprietary version should also be referenced.
We do not intend to repeat our review of this report when it appears as a reference in a particular license application.
