l As required by SQN unit 1 technical specification 4.4.5.5, enclosed are the results of the steam generator tube in-service inspection completed J

on unit 1 March 1, 1987. The in-service inspection was performed on l

steam generator No. 1 in order to comply with the technical specification increction interval requirements without interrupting the next fuel i

cycle.

It was performed in conjunction with the heat treatment of row Nos. 1 and 2 U-bends for all four steam generators.

f Unit I has not been operated since a 100-percent inspection was performed. Therefore, only 427 tubes in steam generator No. I were examined full length. The selection of tubes for examination was based on past SQN and industry experience. All nonplugged tubes in steam j

generator No. I with previously detected wSil penetrations were also i

1 examined. The results indicated that all of these penetrations were nonservice induced, and no growth was detected.

d In preparation for heat treatment, the plugs were removed from previously plugged row No. I tubes in all four unit 1 steam generators. The U-bend regions of all row Nos. I and 2 tubes were heat treated as described in reference 1.

Post-heat-treatment eddy current examinations were performed, and 12 tubes were replugged. The replugged tubes were previously identified to NRC in reference 2.
