l Regulatory Guide 1.29,, Revision 3. " Seismic Design Classification," describes

a method acceptable to the HRC staff for identifying and classifying those features of light-water-cooled nuclear power plants that should be designed to withstand the effects of the Safe Shutdown Earthquake and remain func-tional. This guide was revised as the result of public comments and additicaal staff review.
Also enclosed is a Federal Register notice we plan to issue on this matter within the next few days.
