DEC 14 O Mr. Dixon Hoyle, Director Office of Program Implementation Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs U.S. Department of State Washington, D.C.

Dear Mr. Hoyle:
Enclosed for your records please find application XB001003 from B. K. Sweeney Mfg. Company for a license to export 800 millicuries of tritium contained in four electronic measuring devices to Hong Kong and Greece for use as static electricity detectors.
Because this material is urgently required, we recuested State, DOE, and ACDA to provide telephone approvals on this license application.
In our conversations with the agencies, we stated that the material could have been exported under Sweeney's license XB-5-712, which authorized the export of 125 curies of tritium to Condition 2 countries; however, this license was allowed to expire on September 1, 1978.
This letter will confirm that Jeremiah Kratz, DOE, gave Energy's approval on December 4; and Katherine McMannis, ACDA, and Robin DeLaBarre, DOS, gave their agencies' approvals on December 5 for the export of the material described on the enclosed application.
NRC issued a license for this export request on December 13, 1978.
We certainly appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
Sincerely, s
kh
