CHAIRMAN HENDRIEs The Commission will come to 3

. order.

We have this morning.several items o f team busine ss.

4

.that we would like to adopt, and we have a briefing and 5

discussion on fuel cycle aspects pertinent to the material 6

diversion.

7 Let us get on with the procedural routine matters.

8 One of the first of these, something which is not noted on the 9

agenda, I had planned on Monday. to be briefed by the sta.ff on 10 certain safeguards and particular security-related ma.tters.

11 And a query indicated that there was enough Commission 12 interest so we ought to make it a Commission meeting.

It will-

~

13 be at~.ll300 on Monday.

I think it is legitimately titled 14

" Faci.11 ties safeguards and. Security Ma tters. Briefing by the 15 Staff."

16 And in order that it can be held.on Monday, it will 17 be appropriately closed because we will be dealing with 18 classified information.

And I need first to ask you to join 19 me in voting to hold such a meeting on short notice, if you 20 w ill.

21 (Show of hands.)

22 CHAIRMAN HENDRIE8 So ordered.

23 And secondly, close under exemption f rom the 24 Sunshine Act because of the classified information.

3 Ne have several items for affirmation.

If you 4

5 MR. CHILK:

The first one is SECY-78-592 and deals 6

with the employment of Mr. Robert Goldsmith in the office of 7

standards development before his security clearance is 8

completed, on the basis that he be precluded from' having 9

access to national-security information through administrative 10 procedure s.

11 All of you have voted to approve that, and I would 12 ask you now to af firm it.

13 CHAIRMAN HENDRIE:

All in favor.

14 (SHow of hands.')

15 CHAIRMAN HENDRIE:

So orde red.

16 MR. CHILK:

The second one is a similar case, 17 involving the employment of Andy 1.. Miller in NMSS.

IS And all of you have aoproved that on the basis that 19 he be precluded again from administrative procedures from 20 having access to NSI and R&D materials pending completion of 21 his investigatior.

22 And I have asked for affirmation.

23 (Chorus of ayes.)

24 CHAIRMAN HENDRIE:

6 MR. CHILK Sam, do I need a short-notice vote to 7

put that on the agenda formally?

8 MR. KELLEY:

That might be helpful.

It wasn't 9

needed, but I think it is helpful.

l l

10 CHAIRMAN HENDRIE:
