Dear Mr. Myers:
We have received the enclosed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) correspondence dated December 6,1996, transmitting the FEMA evaluation report for the September 17-18,1996 Biennial Radiological Emergency Preparedness ingestion Pathway Exercise at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant.
No deficiencies were identified in the performance of offsite agencies during this exercise.
However, four Areas Requiring Corrective Action (ARCAs) were identified during this exercise.
We fully recognize that any corrective actions to be implemented may involve parties and political institutions which are not under your direct control. Nonetheless, we expect that assistance, if appropriate, will be extended.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosed FEMA correspondence will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
