Dear Mr. Hegener:

Haddam Neck Plant Oil Spill Report Northeast Utilities Service Company (NUSCO), on behalf of Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company (CYAPCO), submits a Hazardous in Haddam, Substance Spill Report for CYAPCO's Haddam Neck Plant Connecticut, This is written confirmation of the telephone report made to your office on December 19, 1987.

The spill, caused by an equipment failure, involved approximately one quart of lubricating oil from the plant's travelling water screen in the cooling water intake structure. Thi.c oil entered the Connecticut River and dissipated to a point where it could not be contained. The cause of the spill has been corrected.
