TRIP REPORT ON ASME RADWASTE SYSTEMS COMMITTEE MEETING IN DALLAS, TEXAS  ;

i A meeting of the ASME Radwaste Systems Committee was held at the Dallas Sheraton Hotel, Dallas, Texas on September 11 and 12, 1978. The meeting opened with Chairman Heacoch's opening statement and introduction'of two new members. The two new members do not represent an increase in the committee membership (which is presently limited to 29) but repre-sent replacement of two members whose attendance record was not. accept-  ;

Each of the subcommittees.gave status reports on their progress and 1 current activities. The Operations Subcommittee reported on a work-  !

shop they are plannina on Waste Water Management, January 21 through .!

23, 1979 in Charlotte, North Carolina. This workshop will be limited  ;

to 100 attendees with first preference given to people from utilities.  ;

EPRI will be involved in this workshop and may provide some funding.

The Decontamination Subcommittee is busy gathering information on l decontamination activities in the industry. Presently, the emphasis '

is on decontamination of steam generators in PWRs and general system j decontamination in BWRs. '

The Education Subcommittee reported that approximately 30 attendees had signed up to attend the Radwaste' Course in Zurich, Switzerland on Octo-ber 9 to 13, 197L. The full compliment of attendees is expected shortly.

Half of the attendees presently signed up are from Europe with the remainder being from the United States. The monograph.for the Radwaste Course was published on September 4, 1978, and it is available at $20 for ASME members and $40 for nonmembers.

The next Radwaste. Course is planned for the Washington, D.C. area in y May of 1979 infconjunction with the University of Virginia. In 1980,
