j Thank you for your letter of January 8,
- 1997, regarding your concerns about the Maine Yankee plant and NRC's Independent Safety Assessment Team (ISAT) findings.
Your specific comments on the October 7, 1996 Maine Yankee ISAT have been forwarded to the NRC staf f for review and consideration along with other public comments received to date.
With respect to your request to participate in the Commission i
Meeting on Maine Yankee scheduled for February 4,
- 1997, I am writing to confirm the substance of your earlier telephone conversation with Mr. William Hill of my staff.
As Mr. Hill informed you, your request has been denied.
As you may know, the Commission is now scheduled to hear from representatives.of Maine Yankee, the NRC staff, the Union of Concerned Scientists, and the Friends of the Coast Opposing Nuclear Pollution, as well as the presentation of Mr. William S.
Linnell II, a member of the Town Council of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and spokesman for the Committee for a Safe Energy Future.
I want to assure you that the Commission appreciates your comments on the Maine Yankee ISAT and that your comments will be addressed by the NRC staff.
