. S Docket Nas. 50-514 & 50-515 4 Gentlemen: N The Staff's view regarding the filing of testimony on open items is as follows:

1. Alternative sites - Testimony will be filed on December 22, 1978.
2. Financial qualifications - The Staff's direct testimony has already been introduced into evidence. At this time, no further testimony is expected to be filed. 1
3. Appendix I - The Staff will be filing testimony addressing the effect of PSAR amendment 12 on its Appendix I analysis and on the overall NEPA cost-benefit balance on or before October,27,1978.

4 SER Supplement 6 - This final SERs' upplement will deal with cold shutdown and the effects of the Staff's above-mentioned _

Appendix I testimony on Section 11 of the SER (Radioactive Waste Management). Expected filing date is December 15, 1978.

5. River Bend - Testimony addressing relevant unresolved generic safety questions will be filed before the end of this calendar year. There is a strong possibility that this material will be included in SER Supplement 6.

The Staff expects that the next session of the hearings will complete the Board's review of those subjects necessary to address the question
