NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50 331/96012(DRS)
Dear Mr. Liu:
01 December 16,1996, the NRC completed an inspection of the licensed operator
requalification training program at your Duane Arnold Energy Center. The enclosed report
presents the results of that inspection.
Overall, the inspectors concluded that generally the licensed reactor operator and senior
reactor operator requalification programs were being implemented in accordance with 10 CFR Part 55 requirements. However, the remediation program administered to operators
that failed the annual requalification examination was judged to be a significant weakness
while the 10 CFR 55.59(a)(2) requirement to pass a comprehensive written examination
was considered unresolved.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter
and the enclosed report will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
