Thank you for your letter dated August 21, 1978, informing us of the steps you have taken to correct the noncompliance identified in our letter of August 3, 1978. We have no further questions regarding your response to noncompliance item 1.
Our position on noncompliance item 2 continues to be as stated in our letter dated August 3,1978 namely, all survey meters used to measure dose or contamination from NRC licensed materials are required to be calibrated annually as stated in item 15, page 8 of your letter dated August 8, 1974. If your intention is to require annual calibra-tion of only those instruments used by the Radiation Safety Office you must==and your license to state the change in item 15.
Based on your letter of August 21, 1978 ond as a result of a tele-phone converstation on September 29, 1978 with Mr. J. Dare of your staff, we understand that your required leak test method is capable of detecting.005 microcuries of removable alpha contamination.
Further, we understand that records of these tests are recorded in units of microcuries. Consequently, this resolves the matter discussed in Appendix B of our letter. We have no further questions regarding this matter.
We have no further questions on the steps you have taken to correct the noncompliance items 2 and 3 (former Appendix B).
We will examine your corrective actions during a future inspection.
