Our client, Atonic 2ncrgy of Canada, Ltd. is anxinus to receive this licence. Thic licence will be used to comploto several category II shipments to AECL, Since only one category II chinment is a]Iowed to ho in transit uithin the US at any one time, a cpecific window of tine is recorved Uith NRC for each shipment.
A window of tino beginning Fobtuary 1, 1988 was reserved with NRC for the first shipment under license XSNM 01900. The remaining
' periodo of timo required to completo the shipmento in 1988 were also rocorved. At procont all rem.1ining time in 1988 has already been rosorved for other clients and io not available for ABCh. If unable to conpleto ship;aents ac presently scheduled, the chipmento would have to 60 noved into 1909.
It is urgent that this licence be ist,ued by January 15, 1988 to meet
! the roservod periods of time and to provide NRC the required I
advanced notice.
We understand that if thono shipments do not proceed as scheduled, the ACCL reduced enrichment program will be delayed and cpuld cause I ARCL to require additional shipments of highly enriched uraniug to f 4 9 ,
