Dear Mr. Stanley:

On December 13,1996, the NRC completed an inspection at your Braidwood Units 1 & 2
!
reactor facilities. The inspection evaluated the performance of your emergency response
l
organization during the December 11,1996, Braidwood biennial exercise. The inspectors
discussed the findings of this inspection with you and others of your ataff on December
l
13,1996.

Based on the results of this inspection, it was determined that the overall performance of
j
the emergency responsa organization was very good. Simulated events were accurately
j
diagnosed, proper mitigation actions were performed, emergency declarations were timely
l
and accurate, and offsite agencies were notified in a timely manner. No exercise
weaknesses, safety concerns, or violations of NRC requirements were observed. No
response to this letter is necessary,

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC'S " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter
l
and the enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
