-DATED OCTOBER 9, 1986 The purpose of this submittal is to provide the status and schedule for the development of the Sequoyah Q-list.
TVA is planning to develop the Q-list on SQN in a phased approach.
Initially, we will categorize and evaluate all components in the safety-related systems using the following design output documents:
instrument tabulations and the flow, control, and schematic diagrams.
The systems selected include all of the systems contained in the Phase 1 portion of the Design Baseline and Verification Program (DBVP), plus additional systems that SQN Operations and Maintenance indicate are particularly important to them in accomplishing their work. TVA believes that the Phase 1 SQN Q-list, at this point, will catisfy all regulatory requirements. The Phase 2 work will consist of evaluation and categorization of the remaining systems at SQN for possible inclusion in the Q-list.
TVA's schedule for implementation of Phases 1 and 2 of the SQN Q-list is shown on attachment 1.
As indicated on that figure, all systems contained in Phase 1 of the list will be issued by the end of April 1989.
TVA has developed a list of nine attributes that will be displayed on the Q-list to classify and d(scribo each component. Attachment 2 displays this list of attributes.
The teara that will be formed to accomplish this task will be made of both Operations and Division of Nuclear Engineering (DNE) personnel.
TVA plans to make full use of the work, which has been accomplished to date at Watts Bar Nuclear !1 ant, as well as information gathered during other efforts at SQN

such as DBVP and Equipment Qualitication Program.
Plant and engineering procedures will be evaluated and, where necessary, revised to ensure that ongoing work at SQN will be factored into the list as it is developed and I
maintained in the future.
