PLANT PERFORMANCE REVIEW (PPR) - BRAIDWOOD
Dear Mr. Stanley:
On November 8, 1996 NRC staic completed the semiannual Plant Performance Review (PPR) of Braidwood Nuclear Generating Plant. The staff conducts these reviews for all operating nuclear power plants to develop an integrated underutan ng of safety performance. The results are used by NRC management to facilitate planning and allocation of inspection resources.
The PPR for Braidwood involved the participation of all Region III technical divisions as well as responsible NRR staff, in evaluating ins)ection results and safety performance information for the period from Marc 1 to October 1996.
PPRs provide NRC management with a current summary of licensee performance and serve as inputs to the NRC Systematic Assessment of Licensee Performance (SALP) and senior management meeting (SMM) reviews.
This letter advises you of our planned inspection effort resulting from the BraMwood PPR review.
The information is provided to enable appropriate consideration of the resource impact on your staff, and to permit scheduling conflicts and personnel availability issues to be resolved in advance of inspector arrival onsite. The enclosure details our inspection alan for approximately the next 6 months.
The rationale or basis for eac1 inspection outside the " Core" inspection program is provided so that you are aware of the reason for emphasis in these program areas.
Resident inspections, as well as periodic inspections by other assigned members of the staff, may occur at any time in support of the Core inspection program.
