May 22, 2020 MEETING NOTICE

Purpose:

Workshop on Spent Fuel Performance Margins Date: June 11, 2020 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Purpose:

The purpose of this meeting is to continue dialogue on recommendations contained in the Nuclear Energy Institutes white paper on Spent Fuel Performance Margins dated November 8, 2019 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML19318D971). This workshop will build upon discussions held during the January 22, 2020, public workshop (see summary at ADAMS Accession No. ML20028F277) and April 15-16, 2020, public workshop (ADAMS Accession No. ML20126G388) and will focus on two technical areas: define NRCs safety goal and align on a gross rupture Phenomenon Identification and Ranking Tables (PIRTs) project plan and discuss questions on NUREG 2152. The goal of the workshop is to align on problem statements, requested regulatory products, and next steps for each.

In this meeting, NRC and industry will review NRCs safety goal definition and align on a gross rupture PIRT project plan. Also, NRC will respond to industry questions on NUREG 2152.
