OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE 02/01/86 At the beginning of the mon th the Duane Arnold Energy Center was in normal power opera tion w i th 341 MWe ( no t) going out to the grid.

02/03/86 At 0730 hours0.00845 days <br />0.203 hours <br />0.00121 weeks <br />2.77765e-4 months <br /> the Emergency No ti f ica tion Sys tem Circul t f ailure light was discovered on. The NRC was informed of th e problem and Informed us repairs would be comp l e te in two (2) hours.

02/04/86 At 1033 hours0.012 days <br />0.287 hours <br />0.00171 weeks <br />3.930565e-4 months <br /> the plan t en tered a 7 day LCO when the Diesel Fire Pump was removed from service for tube oli sy s tem repairs. Minor leaks were repaired and the fire pump was returned to service a t 2015 hours0.0233 days <br />0.56 hours <br />0.00333 weeks <br />7.667075e-4 months <br />, thus ending the LCO.

02/07/86 At 1716 hours0.0199 days <br />0.477 hours <br />0.00284 weeks <br />6.52938e-4 months <br /> a 30 day LCO was en tered when a Sa f e ty/Re l i e f Valve was declared inoperable when it unexpectedly opened f or approxima tely 14 seconds, i nves ti ga tion revealed that dual grounds during replacement of an annuncia tor card was the probable cause. i nves tiga tion also revealed a partial ground in the circui t Inside primary containment which may have contributed to th e even t. After circuit tes ti ng, design review and confirmation of proper logic sequencing to confirm the valve would perform i ts designed function the valve was declared operable at 154 2 hours2.314815e-5 days <br />5.555556e-4 hours <br />3.306878e-6 weeks <br />7.61e-7 months <br /> on 02/14/86, thus ending the LCO. Fu r ther testing of the circuit inside primary con tainmen t wil l be performed during the plan t's March outage.

The recorder channel was overhaules and the LCO was terminated when the channel was re turned to service on 02/12/86 at 2200 hours0.0255 days <br />0.611 hours <br />0.00364 weeks <br />8.371e-4 months <br />.

02/11/86 At 084 7 and 0857 hours0.00992 days <br />0.238 hours <br />0.00142 weeks <br />3.260885e-4 months <br /> the Reac tor Wa ter Clean-Up (RWCU) s y s te.n unexpectedly i sola ted, inves tiga tion of the even t revealed tha t a high dif f erential temperature condition had been sensed by the s team leak de tec ti on logic.

The cause was de termined to be a t-Inor degrada tion of manual volves on the vent and drain lines of th e 'A' r egenera ti ve heat exchanger which were permi tting sligh t s team leakage into the area. The valves were ti g h te ne d down and the RWCU sys tem was r e tu rn ed to i ts normal sys tem line-up wi thou t s igni f ican t di f f icul ty.

The pump discharge alr/ vacuum. vent valve was refurbished and the pump was re tu rned to service at 1314 hours0.0152 days <br />0.365 hours <br />0.00217 weeks <br />4.99977e-4 months <br />, thus ending th e LCO and Unusual Event.

02/17/86 At 0739 hours0.00855 days <br />0.205 hours <br />0.00122 weeks <br />2.811895e-4 months <br /> the diesel fire pump was removed from service for planned ma in tenance and a 7 day LCO commenced. The pump exhoust line rollet valve was replaced due to leakage and the system was re turned to service a t 1222 hours0.0141 days <br />0.339 hours <br />0.00202 weeks <br />4.64971e-4 months <br />, thus ending the LCO.

A blade was replaced in the blower unit and the sys tem was returned to service a t 2210 hours0.0256 days <br />0.614 hours <br />0.00365 weeks <br />8.40905e-4 months <br />, thus cancelling the LCO.

At 0759 hours0.00878 days <br />0.211 hours <br />0.00125 weeks <br />2.887995e-4 months <br /> a Class C f ire was reported in the Turbine Building. The Second Assistant was making his rounds and noticed smoke coming from the sample sink chiller pump mo tor. The motor was doenergized which put ou t the fire. The Fire Brigade responded promp tl y and was posted for any reflashes.

A t the end of the mon th the plant had con tinuously opera ted for 220 days, and was opera ting in normal power opera tion with 416 MWe ( no t) going out to the grid.
