Consnission (y 6,1986, meeting with staff from the Nuclear RegulatoryNRC) in Port Gib In a Februar NRC of the incidence of cancer in persons living near nuclear power plants that have been operated for 20 years.

I have had a computer search made for information which may provide you with useful information regarding radiation released from conJnercial nuclear power plants and pctential health effects. Abstracts of papers and reports and their availability are enclosed. Only a few nuclear power plants in the U.S.

have operated for 20 years, and these are small prototypes of commercial nuclear power plants (Dresden 1 and Big Rock Point).

I know of no studies concerning incidence of cancer in persons living near these plants. However, there are measurements being made of radiation around nuclear power plants, and abstracts of reports giving results of these measurements are enclosed. Also enclosed are abstracts of studies on the potential health effects of low level radiation.

I have had a computer search made for information which may provide you with useful infomation regarding radiation released from commercial nuclear power plants and potential health effects. Abstracts of papers and reports and their availability are enclosed. Only a few nuclear power plants in,the U.S.

have operated for 20 years, and these are small prototypes of commercial nuclear power plants (Dresden 1 and Big Rock Point).
