Dear Bob:

Your letter of March 3, 1986 indicates that AIF is willing to support actively our efforts to develop a policy statement to apply in the event of re-activation of power plant construction projects. As a part of our effort, Dr. Spangler has completed a draft report which attempts to identify the major issues requiring NRC consideration and the status of the various projects. Much of the status information was based on reconnaissanced-level data, oral communications, and media clippings, and there is a need for validation by the utilities mentioned. It would be particularly valuable if AIF would coordinate this draft with the utilities and provide integrated industry comments, including any corrections or suggestions for improvements.

Sincerely, Origini signed 4 H. R. Oute i Harold R. Denton, Director Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulatinn
