.By letters dated June 30 and July.23, 1992~, you responded to NRC Bulletin 92-01 for the Vogtle Electric _ Generating Plant,- Units- 1 and 2.

Yourifirst,res'ponse. identified five rooms inside the two-containments containing _~small: diameter conduit coated with-Thermc-Lag 330: insulation.

However,.you / subsequently determined that-- Thermo-Lag was installed"as a radiant energy shield which:is'outside-the-scope of..the Bulletin and.did not require the.immediate action of monitoring air temperature inside-containment

~each hour. _ :Your' response stated that compensatory measures' (hourly fire patrols) have been implemented.to verify the operability of fire detectors in these five ' rooms consistent with Action Statement '7.3 of Table 9.5.1-10 of the Vogtle Final. Safety Analysis Report, and:that these fire patrols will remain Lin place until.this; issue is resolved.
