. . ._ .. Maine Yankee' submitted a-Relief Response-(V-6), Reference (b), of our Inservice Testing-(IST) program requiring. check-valve CH-72 (charging)-to be disassembled and 4 ' inspected every refueling; outage in' lieu of quarterly closure testing while at power. ~
LDuring the 1992: refueling' disassembly, the threaded bonnet became galled, preventing-removaldwithout. damage. The bonnet was tightened-and the-disassembly was cancelled because there was not a suitable replacement valve available.

- Theivalve operability was- reviewed?using the guidelines from Generic Letter 04 for extending the dis, assembly / inspection frequency of'a check valve. CH-72 was q disassembled in 1990;- the~ measurements of the wear areas and clearances _were found zto.be within the manufacturers service tolerances. CH-72 was successfully full flow
- tested open~in March 1992.--
