This email is being sent on behalf of John Monninger, Director, Division of Advanced Reactors and Non-power Production and Utilization Facilities, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, in response to your email dated May 13, 2020. The May 13, 2020, email forwarded a draft presentation to the NRC for review as required by Section V, Paragraph F.4.a, of Confirmatory Order (CO) EA-19-071.
Reed College had agreed to submit a presentation to the National Organization of Test, Research, and Training Reactors (TRTR) to be considered for inclusion in the 2020 annual TRTR conference, and Reed was to submit a draft presentation to the NRC by July 1, 2020. The presentation is to summarize the conditions leading to the CO that existed at Reed and emphasize the need for research and test reactor (RTR) licensees to be complete and accurate in the submission of license applications and in all other dealings with the NRC. The presentation was also to include lessons-learned regarding Order EA-19-071.
The NRC has reviewed the draft presentation and finds that it complies with Section V, Paragraphs F.4.b and c, of the CO. The NRC also has no comments on the content of the presentation. Therefore, it may be submitted to the TRTR and considered for inclusion at the 2020 TRTR Conference (or next TRTR conference) as-is. This completes our review as required by Paragraph F.4.d.
