Government Agency Type: Federal Government Agency: NWTRB General Comment This is a comment on the planned disposition of nuclear waste in Southeast NM and Southwest TX, NUREG-2237. For environmental reasons I am against the location of a nuclear waste dump in this part of the country.
The immediate danger of contamination of the aquifer, which would be irreversible, is enough reason not to place this nuclear dump in the area.
Another, maybe stronger reason, is to not move this waste until their is a realistic plan to deal with the waste.
Until such time the waste should remain where it is and an effort should be made to discover a method of recycling the waste. It should not simply be buried and forgotten.
So, leave the waste where it is until such time that it can be properly dealt with in a clean and environmentally responsible way.
Thank you, Dean Jarosh Silver City, NM Page 1 of 1 05/20/2020 https://www.fdms.gov/fdms/getcontent?objectId=0900006484646637&format=xml&showorig=false SUNSI Review Complete Template = ADM-013 E-RIDS=ADM-03 ADD: Jill Caverly COMMENT (44)
