Dear Mr. Porco:
Thank you for your letter of May 5, 1997, and attachments in response to our April 14, 1997, letter to E&W concerning the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC's) Notice of Violation and Notice of Nonconformance, dated February 10, 1997.
In our April 14, 1997, letter we stated that E&W in its March 10, 1997,1 1etter had not fully responded to NRC Nonconformance 99901308/96-01-02 regarding E&W not verifying the adequacy of design pressure ratings of four air conditioner units (ACUS) before E&W supplied them to the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant; and to Nonconformance 99901308/96-01-04 regarding E&W preventing recurrence of deficiencies in its commercial-grade dedication program.
Your May 5, 1997, letter and attachments provided additional E&W responses to address Nonconformances 99901308/96-01-02 and 99901308/96-01-04.
In your May 5, 1997, letter regarding Nonconformance 99901308/96-01-02, you stated that E&W has revised its engineering procedures "to require a review of customer documents in addition to E&W generated documents." We reviewed E&W procedure ENG-101, " Engineering Project Control Procedure," Revision 7, dated April 21, 1997, and determined that ENG-101 now requires E&W's project d@/ob engineers to examine customer requirements, applicable codes and standards, specifications, the adequacy (of customer requirements) for intended purpose, and the adequacy of consider your respons(e to this nonconformance adequate.E&W's) proposed des We In your May 5, 1997, response regarding Nonconformance 99901308/96-01-04, you stated that E&W has revised its engineering docuent ENG-109, " Procedure for the Dedication of Commercial Grade Items for %e in Nuclear Safety Related Applications."

Dear Mr. Porco:
4 Thank you for your letter of May 5,1997, and attachments in response to our April 14, 1997, letter to E&W concerning the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC's) Notice of Violation and Notice of Nanconformance, dated February 10, 1997.
