SUBJECT:
NRC FERMI 2 EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS INSPECTION REPORT 50-
'
341/97006(DRS)
Dear Mr. Gipson:
i
l
On May 2,1997, the NRC completed an inspection at your Fermi 2 reactor facility. The
enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.
Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report. Within these areas, the
inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures and representative records,
interviews with personnel, and observation of activities in progress.
1
l
This inspection was to perform the emergency preparedness core inspection in NRC
l
Inspection Procedure 82701 and review the status of previous open inspection findings.
'
The report's Executive Summary provides an overview of our assessment of your
'
performance in Emergency Preparedness, an aspect of Plant Support. At the conclusion of
the inspection, the findings were discussed with those members of your staff identified in
the report.
i
Based on the results of this inspection, it was determined that the overall effectiveness of
your emergency preparedness facilities, equipment, training, and organization was very
good.

Plant personnel had performed appropriately during actual activations of the Radiological
,
Emergency Response Plan. Emergency response facilities and equipment were well
maintained. Quality essurance oversight of the program was also very good.
