Enclosed please find an application from Nuclear Metals, Inc.
for a license to exoort two metric tons of depleted uranium to South Korea for research on radiation shielding materials at the Korea Advanced Energy Research Institute (KAERI).
Although this license request nonnally would rot reouire Executive Branch review under current interagency procedures, we would appreciate your views, in accordance with established procedures, as to whether the pmposed export meets the applicabl,u criteria in the Atomic Energy Act, as amended by tue Nuclear Nonproliferation Act of 1978. In view of the nuclear end use, you will note that a letter of assurance is required that the material will be subject to all of the terms and conditions of the agreement for cooperation between the United States and South Korea.
