l SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-155/97006(DRS)

Dear Mr. Powers:

On May 2,1997, the NRC completed a security inspection at your Big Rock Point Nuclear )

Plant. The' enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.

Areas examined during the inspection are identified i.; the report. Within these areas, the

inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures and representative records,

l observations, and interviews with personnel, l

The objective of the inspection effort was to determine whether activities authorized by  ;

l: . the license were conducted safely and in accordance with NRC requirements. The

enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.

No cited violations of NRC requirements were noted in the areas inspected. The Vehicle

Barrier System was effectively implemented. Some procedure weaknesses were noted in

reference to the Vehicle Barrier System. Positive observations were noted in several areas

inspected including, for example, security force training and security force performance.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter

and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
