I am pleased to accept your invitation to participate in the U.S.-Japan Joint High Level Committee (JHLC) meeting scheduled for October 24,1997, in Tokyo, Japan. I look forward to the opportunity to exchange ideas and views on a broad range of issues. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has an active program of safety collaboration with the Japanese as we share similar technologies and face similar challenges.
