Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 2 (TMI-2)
Possession Only License No. DPR-73 Docket No. 50-320 PDMS Quarterly Report The purpose of this letter is to provide the NRC a summary of the activities at TMI-2 during the 1st quarter of1997.
There was no inspection of the TMI-2 Reactor Building during the 1st quarter of 1997. The next inspection of the TMI-2 Reactor Building has been scheduled for June 1997.
1 Routine radiological surveys of the Auxiliary and Fuel Handling buildings during the 1st quarter did not i
identify any significant adverse radiological trends.
The Reactor Vessel temperature monitoring system reported the Reactor Vessel temperatures ranged from 49.9"F on January 8,1997 to 43.5* F on Febmary 20,1997. The Reactor Building temperature ranged from 40.l* F on January 22,1997 to 47.1* F on March 31,1997. The largest temperature difference between the Reactor Building and the Reactor Vessel occurred on January 20 and 21,1997, when the Reactor Building temperature was 5.6* F less than the Reactor Vessel temperature.

Significant work activities conducted. during the 1st quarter of 1997 included completion of surveillance inspection and testing of the Reactor Building passive breather system, replacement of the l ~
Reactor Building Fire Protection System with the new Reactor Building Fire Wire Detection System and the performance' of routine preventative and corrective maintenance of the Auxiliary and Fuel Handling buildings ventilation systems. In addition, there were some minor repairs to the electrical distribution system. Dismantlement of non-radiological equipment continued with the dismantlement l
and removal of the Neutralizing tanks and other miscellaneous equipment from the Turbine Building.
