i Attached is the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GGNS) updated Inservice inspection (ISI) program for our 2nd ten-year interval for your information. The program has been updated to the 1992 Edition with portions of the 1993 Addenda of ASME l
Section XI. This fulfills our commitment to provide a copy of the updated program

to you after it became effective (Ref.1 & Ref. 2).
fL's 'l The updated program includes all examination requirements and, therefore,

contains no relief requests.1 During verbal conversations with the staff during the [.
I review of our proposal to update to the 1992 Edition with portions of the 1993 Addenda of ASME Section XI, we expressed our desire to attempt the examinations with the technology available today and to completely reevaluate the need for relief after attempting the examination. The staff iesponded favorably and indicated that they expected this approach. if we determine that relief is needed for an examination requirement during this interval, the provisions of 9707070369 970701 PDR ADOCK 05000416 e
PDR 1 10CFR50,55a(g)(5)(iv) requires that, where an examination requirement is determined to 0"I'OOO2 be impracticai and is not.inciuded in tne revised inservice inspection program, the basis for the determination must be demonstrated to the satisfaction of the Commission.

l 10CFR50.55a(g)(5)(iii) apply. We have reviewed 10CFR50.55a and NUREG 1482, l
" Guidelines for Inservice Testing at Nuclear Power Plants"2 and believe our l
approach is consistent with these requirements and guidelines. If you find l
otherwise, please advise.
GGNS has not identified a requirement for the NRC to approve the actual program l
(Ref.1); therefore, the program has been implemented at our site.
