Action Statement b He attached Special Report is submitted in accordance with Calvert Cliffs Unit 2 Technical Specification 3.3.3.7. The report concerns the inoperability of the fire detection instruments in the Unit 2 Containment No. 22A Reactor Coolant Pump Motor Bay for a period in excess of 14 days.

UNIT 2 FIRE DETECTION INSTRUMENTATION SPECIAL REPORT I
Baltimore Gas and Electric Company submits this Special Report concerning an inoperable fire detection instrument, as required by Technical Specification 3.3.3.7, Action Statement b.
ACTION TAKEN i
On March 17,1997, the fire detection instruments in the Unit 2 Containment No. 22A Reactor Coolant Pump Motor Bay were disabled via a temo;rary alteration. Unit 2 Technical Specification 3.3.3.7,

Action Statement a was entered when the heat detection for the No. 22A Reactor Coolant Pump Bay was J
declared inoperable on March 17,1997. In accordance with this Action Statement, the containment air temperature is being monitored once per hour at the locations listed in Technical Specification 4.6.1.5.
CAUSE OF INOPERABIIITY He heat detection circuits in No. 22A Reactor Coolant Pump Motor Bay were disabled to support the j
removal of No. 22A Reactor Coolant Pump Motor during the current Unit 2 refueling outage. Rese heat detection instruments are in close proximity to the pump and must be removed before the pump motor can be removed.
