Subj ect: Certification of Westinghouse Ilittman Nuclear, Incorporated UNIPAK Model I Package Docket No. 71-9194

Dear Mr. MacDonald:

As a result of recent federal legislation, which allows the current low-level radioactive waste disposal sites to remain open, the UNIPAK concept is not desirable from a utility perspective. Therefore, liittman will not be actively pursuing the certification of our UNIPAK Model I package in the immediate future. Accordingly, we would like to withdraw our application for the certification of that package (Docket No. 71-9194).

However, should the market conditions change, liittman would be interested in resubmitting our application for the certification of UNIPAK.

It is our understanding that this resubmittal could be made using the same docket number as the original submittal. Any resub-mittal would include all the'information requested by your letter FCTC: RHO, 71-9194, dated February 19, 1985.
