Dear Ms. Hiatt:

This letter acknowledges our receipt of your letter of f overrber 22, 1985, regarding the fire protection requirements for the Perry liuclear Power Plant.

In your letter, you expressed some concerns regarding the manner in which the proposed operating license and its appended Technical Specifications for Unit 1 of the Perry Nuclear Plant address the regulatory requirenents for fire protection.

Subsequent to our receipt of your letter, you filed with the Atomic. Safety and Licensing Appeal Board a "Itotion To Reopen the Record and to Submit flew Contentions," dated December 12, 1985. This liotion included as a proposed centention essentially the san;e position on fire protection as expressed in ycur earlier letter. Therefore, please be advised that the fiRC staff's response to your letter will be set forth in its response to the Motien to Reopen the Record in accordance with the Rules of Practice in 10 CFR Part 2 of the Cornission's regulations.
