Physical Security Event

Dear Mr. Gagliardo:

On March 14, 1986, at approximately 1350 hours0.0156 days <br />0.375 hours <br />0.00223 weeks <br />5.13675e-4 months <br />, an announcement was made over the gai-tronics to the effect that a bomb was at the Level No. 5 reactor door. The announcement was immediately referred to the Security Supervisor.

Compensatory measures were immediately implemented and no bomb could be found in the area.

Further investigation resulted in specific interviews with several contract personnel in an attempt to identify the responsible individual.

At approximately 1425 hours0.0165 days <br />0.396 hours <br />0.00236 weeks <br />5.422125e-4 months <br />, the individual who made the bomb announcement entered the Security Supervisor's office and voluntarily reported that he was responsible for the threat. The individual was a contract employee and unaware of the seriousness of the incident.

The individual's unescorted access was revoked and the Weld County Sheriff was notified for followup actions.

Comnensatory measures were suspended at approximately 1425 hours0.0165 days <br />0.396 hours <br />0.00236 weeks <br />5.422125e-4 months <br />, March 14, 1986, after station security staff had verifi.rd that no real threat to station security existed.

Mr. Bill Jones of your staff was notified of this incident at 1455 hours0.0168 days <br />0.404 hours <br />0.00241 weeks <br />5.536275e-4 months <br />, March 14, 1986, and Mr. Larry Yandell, Security Chief, Region IV, was also notified.
