In the Reference (a) submittal, Comed requested approval of an emergency amendment pursuant to 10CFR50.91(a)(5) to Facility Operating Licenses DPR-29 and DPR-30. The purpose of the amendment request was to cllow operation with Atrium-9B fuelin Operational Modes 3,4 and 5 to facilitate the completion of the current Quad Cities Unit 2 refueling outage (Q2R14). Comed was natified on May 1,1997, that the Staff could not approve the license amendment as subinitted because the emergency circumstances exist only on Quad Cities Unit 2. Comed hereby formally withdraws the Reference (a) emergency application for Quad Cities Unit 1 (DPR-29).

Similarly, in the Reference (b) submittal, Comed requested approval of an exigent amendment pursuant to 10CFR50.91(a)(6) to Facility Operating Licenses DPR-29 and DPR-30. The purpose of the amendment request was to increase the MCPR Safety Limit for Quad Cities Unit 2 from 1.07 to 1.10. Comed was recently informed that the Staff could not approve the license amendment as submitted because the exigent circumstances exist only on Quad Cities Unit 2. Comed hereby formally withdraws the Reference (b) exigent portion of the application for Quad Cities Unit 1 (DPR-29) and requests processing of the application for Quad Cities Unit 1 (DPR-29) pursuant to i
