On April 21, 1997, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission notified the U.S.
Department of Energy (DOE), Uranium Mill Tailings Remedial Action Project Office, of the completion of the NRC staff's review of the final Remedial Action Plan (RAP) and all associated documents pertinent to the proposed remedial action at the inactive uranium mill tailings site at Maybell, Colorado. The staff's review was documented in the Final Technical Evaluation Report for the Maybell site, transmitted via the April 1997 letter.
i I have signed the original signature pages (three copies enclosed) signifying the NRC's concurrence in the Maybell RAP. These pages were transmitted for
'NRC's signature and incorporation into the RAP by your letter of May 2, 1997.
NRC's concurrence signifies that DOE's proposed remedial action complies with the 40 CFR Part 192, Subparts A-C, standards of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
