Ladies and Gentlemen:
a By letter dated April 22,1996, Southern Nuclear proposed the implementation of an L* repair criteria for Farley Nuclear Plant Unit 2. A subsequent Unit 2 steam generator inspection in the i Fall of 1996 and evaluation of the inspection results has led Southern Nuclear to question the benefits of implementation of L* Recent evaluations of the Unit 2 inspection results indicate that an alternate repair criteria (ARC) for primary water stress corrosion cracking (PWSCC) in the tubesheet expansion zone will be more beneficial than L* Consequently, Southern Nuclear v*hdraws the request for L*
