Dear Mr. Edwards :
An NRC inspection was conducted May 19-23, 1997, at your General Atomics facility.
The enclosed report presents the scope and results of that inspection.
During the inspection, your conduct of activities at the Torrey Pines Mesa and Sorrento Valley facilities was generally characterized by implementation of effective programs in the areas of operations, radiation protection, radiological effluents, environmental protection, transportation, and solid radioactive waste management and storage as they relate to your possession-cnly license and ongoing decommissioning activities.
in accordance with i 7 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
