Gentlemen:
This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. J. E. Hyder of the Los Alamos
National Laboratory, our contractor, during the period May 21-22, 1984, and the
related follow-up inspection by Mr. R. E. Ireland of this office on October 23,
1984, of activities authorized by NRC Operating License R-110 for Idaho State
University, and to the discussion of our findings with members of your staff at
the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during the inspection included organization, logs and records;
requalification training; procedures; surveillance activities; experiments;
fuel handling activities; radiation control; radwaste management; emergency
planning; physical security; nuclear materials management; and observations of
reactor operation.
Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective
examination of procedures and representative records, interviews with
personnel, and observations by the inspectors. These findings are documented
in the enclosed inspection report.
Within the scope of the inspection, no violations or deviations were
identified.
One open item is identified in paragraph 2 of the enclosed inspection report.
