Indian Point Radiation Protection Oversight Committee Report to the Vice President, Nuclear Power for November 1985 The Committee met at Indian Point on November 18, 1985. The major Committee activities included:
1.
Report f rom the Committee's Radiological Assessor 2.
Discussions with:
Richard Davisson John Goodale W.A. Homyk John O. Parry John Spivak Committee Findings and Recommendations:
1.
The Committee was impressed that each of the individuals we talked to at this meeting appears to be strongly aware of ALARA planning and his role in it, as well as the relationship between productivity and ALARA.
2.
A one day Operational / Design ALARA course has been developed and presented to Con Edison personnel from a variety of organizations which have responsibility for work related to the Indian Point Facility. The Committee commends such efforts to raise ALARA consciousness. We recommend consideration be given to the question of how high conscious-ness of ALARA principles will be assured for non-Con Edison (Contractor) personnel involved in the outage.
3.
The Committee was pleased to see the preliminary collective dose estimates for various outage tasks that have been prepared and promulgated. It'is important that throughout the outage planning and operation process there be continuing awareness by all involved of the collective dose goals.
4.
Low dose locations, suitable for use as staging and rest areas during outage operations, are being identified and established. The Committee encourages further emphasis on this aspect of outage exposure control.
Adopted by the Com.nittee, November 26, 1985.
