REPORT ON THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY'S TRADE STUDY GROUP MEETING, ROCKY FLATS, MAY 27-29, 1997 Please find enclosed for your information a copy of Mary Ad'ms' a report on the Department of Energy's (DOE) Trade Study Group meeting held at Rocky Flats l Environmental Technology Site in Colorado on May 27-29, 1997. Mary participated in the meeting as an NRC observer under the NRC-DOE reimbursable ,
agreement on plutonium disposition. The next meeting of the Trade Study Group will be held on July 8-9, 1997, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. NRC has been invited to make a presentation about the regulations that would apply to plutonium disposition activities, if NRC had authority to regulate all or part
- of such activities. Unless her other work commitments preclude her participation, I would intend to send Mary to make this presentation at the July' meeting under the reimbursable agreement.
