Three Mile Island, Unit 2 X Not Applicable Docket Number 50-320

Subject:

PLENUM JACKING - UPDATE On December 11, 1984, the licensee completed jacking the reactor vessel upper plenum to 71 inches. Some slight increase in jacking load occurred near the end of the jacking.

The licensee is evaluating this anomonaly to determine the impact on plenum removal.

The plenum is presently resting on mechanical followers and the hydraulic jacking equipment is being removed. A slight increase in radiation _ level was measured at one foot above the reactor. vessel flange. No measurable increase in radiation occurred at the working level. There was no measurable release of Krypton 85. It is anticipated that the plenum will remain in this status until the spring of 1985 when the plenum can be removed from the vessel.
