Indian Point Radiation Protection Oversight Committee Report to the Vice President, Nuclear Power for September 1985 The Committee met at Indian Point on September 26, 1985. The major Committee activities included:

1.

Report from the Committee's Assesor 2.

Report from Subcommittee 3.

Discussion with V. R. Lander, EH&S A Subcommittee consisting of Messrs. Freudenthal and Meinhold attended the most recent RCCS meeting. They reported improvements in the conduct of this meeting compared to that of prior mee'.ings attended by Committee members.

Committee Findings and Recommendations:

1.

The Committee notes that the Rad Assessor has been reviewing controls over the use of portable health physics instrumentation. The Committee recommends further review of this area, including inventories, calibration, repair and replacement, etc., to ensure that proper control and monitoring of activities during the upcoming refueling outage will not be impacted by instrument availability concerns.

2.

The Committee notes that RSSC has recommended improvements to control of the use of radiography outside the RCA.

The Committee agrees that this is an area that needs attention. For example, procedures should be developed for the control of radiographic sources.

3.

The Committee is following developments relating to the upgraded Health Physics computer system with great interest. We concur that the addition of high speed drives to reduce periodic data processing times is an important improvement to the system.

+ed by the Committee, October 10, 1985.
