50-328 SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT (SON)- COMMITMENT EXTENSION REGARDING THE UPDATED FINAL SAFETY ANALYSIS REPORT (UFSAR), AMENDMENT 13
Reference:
- 1) TVA letter to NRC dated December 6,1996, "Sequoyah Nuclear Plant (SQN)- Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (UFSAR),
Amendment 12 and 10 CFR 50.59 Report"
- 2) TVA letter to NRC dated February 12,1997, " Response to Request for Information Regarding Adequacy, Availability, and Control of Design Bases Information" In Reference 1, TVA submitted the Amendment 12 update to SQN's UFSAR. The Amendment 12 update provided resolution of discrepancies within SON's UFSAR that were identified in Phase I of TVA's UFSAR Verification Program.
Completion of Phase 11 to TVA's UFSAR Verification Program, involved a TVA commitment for issuing Amendment 13 to SON's UFSAR. Reference 1 provided a June 6,1997 completion date for this commitment. TVA's reference 2 letter iterated this TVA commitment for continuing reviews of SON's UFSAR, evaluating remaining discrepancies, and preparing the required changes to the SON UFSAR. Additional time is needed beyond the June 6 commitment date to complete an indepth review of changes associated with SQN's UFSAR for Amendment 13. TVA is conducting additional reviews by designated design / system engineers to validate original UFSAR i
text. Accordingly, TVA is extending the due date for these commitments from June 6, 1997 to September 6,1997. This extension will allow completion of the reviews j
necessary to close Phase ll.
