Stanley Site Vice President j Braidwood Station ' Commonwealth Edison Company R.R. #1, Box 84 Braceville, IL 60407 SUBJECT: NRC BRAIDWOOD PHYSICAL SECURITY INSPECTION REPORTS 50- 456/97006(DRS); 50-457/97006(DRS) i Dear Mr. Stanley. j This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. J. Belanger of this office which concluded on March 14,1997. The inspection included a review of authorized activities for your Braidwood Generating Station, Units 1 and 2. The inspection was an examination of activities conducted under your license as they relate to the security program and to compliance with the Commission's rules and i regulations and with the conditions of your license. The inspection consisted of a selectiva examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and interviews with personnel. No violations of NRC requirements were noted in the areas inspected. Security organization performance and knowledge of the security program were very good. However, engineering support for the design and installation of defensive positions, delay barriers, and other items in preparation for the Operational Safeguards Response Evaluation (OSRE), scheduled for July 14-18,1997, appeared to be disorganized. It was noted that senior station management established a plan to address this issue, including assignment of responsibilities for program completion. Management oversight of the engineering aspects will be required to assure timely completion prior to the OSRE. Areas examined during this inspection concern a subject matter which is exempt from disclosure according to Part 73, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, in accordance with \\
