Dear Dr. Collins:
I am writing in response to your letter of February 21, 1986, concerning the January 31, 1986, earthquake in northeastern Ohio and the potential for financial assistance to the state for the acquisition of portable seismographs.
I cannot promise support of your request but I feel that there is sufficient technical merit in your_ proposal to encourage you to submit a grant request for financial assistance.
It is office policy to encourage cooperative research projects with significant cost-sharing so that the maximum benefit can be derived from funds available.
If this concept is acceptable to your organization, I would suggest that you contact Sharon Stewart at 301-492-4154 for the appropriate NRC grant applica-tion forms.
