TRANSMITTAL OF THE STAFF'S SAFETY EVALUATION OF DOE'S REPORT ON TRITIUM-PRODUCING BURNABLE ABSORBER ROD LEAD TEST ASSEMBLIES j
This is to advise you_that the Commission has not objected to.the issuance of the safety evaluation of DOE's report on the irradiation of tritium-producing burnable absorber rod lead test assemblies (LTAs) in commercial light-water reactors.
In the interest of supporting DOE's tritium production program which calls for loading of the LTAs during the Fall 1997 refueling outage, the staff should obtain the additional information needed to evaluate the Watts Bar amendment and reach an orderly and prompt conclusion.
