3 VICE CHAIR REMPE: I'm here.

3 CHAIR SUNSERI: Matt Sunseri, Chairman is 4
here. So that is eight of the ten. I note that we 5
have a quorum. The ACRS was established by the Atomic 6
Energy Act and is governed by the Federal Advisory 7
Committee Act. The ACRS section of U.S. NRC public 8
website provides information about the history of the 9
ACRS and provides documents such as our charter, 10 bylaws, Federal Register notices for meetings, letter 11 reports, and transcripts of all full and subcommittee 12 meetings, including all slides presented at the 13 meetings.
14 The Committee provides its advice on 15 safety matters to the Commission through its 16 publically available letter reports. The Federal 17 Register notice announcing this meeting was published 18 on April 30th, 2020 and provides an agenda and 19 instructions for interested parties to provide written 20 documents or request opportunities to address the 21 Committee. The Designated Federal Official for this 22 meeting is Mr. Mike Snodderly.
23 During today's meeting, the Committee will 24 consider the following preparation of ACRS reports, in 25 NEAL R. GROSS COURT REPORTERS AND TRANSCRIBERS 1323 RHODE ISLAND AVE., N.W.

4 particular, NuScale design certification application 1
review PRA and Emergency Core Cooling valve 2
performance. NuScale design certification -- let me 3
clarify. These are the topics for this week's meeting 4
and not necessarily all will be covered today: the 5
NuScale design certification application review final 6
design, final report on safety aspects of NuScale 7
Small Reactor, and Kairos advanced reactor design, a 8
few topical reports: one on scaling methodology and a 9
second one on reactor coolant.
10 As reflected in the notice, portions of 11 the meeting may be closed in order to discuss and 12 protect information designated as sensitive or 13 proprietary. A phone bridge line has been open to 14 allow members of the public to listen in on 15 presentations and Committee discussions. We have 16 received no written comments or requests to make oral 17 statements from members of the public regarding 18 today's session.
19 There will be an opportunity for public 20 comment and we have set aside ten minutes in the 21 agenda for comments from members of the public 22 attending or listening to our meeting. Written 23 comments may be forwarded to Mr. Mike Snodderly, the 24 Designated Federal Official.

5 A transcript of the open portions of the 1
meeting is being kept and is requested that the 2
speakers one of the microphones -- use only the 3
microphones, identify themselves, and speak with 4
sufficient clarity volume so they may be readily 5
heard. Two things that we learned from our previous 6
virtual meeting is that it's important for 7
participants to mute their microphones when not 8
speaking and also for presenters to pause periodically 9
to allow others to ask questions and interject. So 10 you don't pause, we don't get the opportunity to jump 11 in sometimes. So that's the two lessons learned.
12 This will be our second virtual meeting of 13 the ACRS, and we have incorporated lessons learned 14 from the previous session, such as ensuring that the 15 public phone line is open and other such logistic 16 things. So I anticipate that we will continue to be 17 a learning organization and please gather any feedback 18 you have and submit those to either myself or 19 Christiana Lui following this of any lessons learned 20 you might have.
21 With that, I have no further opening 22 remarks. So at this point in time, we are going to go 23 off the transcript. So we will close the transcript, 24 and we'll stay in public session and enter report 25 NEAL R. GROSS COURT REPORTERS AND TRANSCRIBERS 1323 RHODE ISLAND AVE., N.W.
