TIP Purge Line Submittal In Reference 2 the NRC had identified a concern with the design of traversing in-core probe'(TIP) nitrogen purge line.

The NRC had indicated that the current design did not meet the requirements of General Design Criterion (GDC) 56.

Detroit Edison has reviewed the design of this line and commits to modify it prior to restart from the first scheduled refueling outage to provide compliance with GDC 56.

An interim modification will be implemented prior J

to restart from the current outage to attain an enhanced isolation capability for this line to allow continued startup and operation of Fermi 2 through the first fuel cycle.

Because this interim modification will not provide full compliance with GDC 56 Detroit Edison will provide both a formal exemption request and an amendment to Operating Lic ense NPF-43 in a' submittal which will be.

provided to the NRC the week of January 6, 1986.
